Launched in March 2012, Pilot Credit 67 is an Alternative Compliance Path for Energy & Atmosphere (EA) Prerequisite 2 in LEED 2009 for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance. Also termed Energy Jumpstart, this credit addresses the substantial opportunity to reduce carbon emissions and building operational expenses by reaching the 75 percent of the market that the current existing buildings energy performance prerequisite excludes. For most buildings, the traditional point of entry for EA Prerequisite 2 in LEED for Existing Buildings: O&M has been an ENERGY STAR rating of 69, a benchmark that certain market segments, such as older buildings, have experienced difficulties in meeting.
