New buildings, developments and major renovations designed to meet fossil fuel, GHG-emitting, energy consumption performance standards of 60% below regional (or country) averages and medians for the building type. An equal amount of existing building area renovated annually to meet fossil fuel, GHG-emitting, energy consumption performance standards of 60% of the regional (or country) averages and medians for the building type. Fossil fuel reduction standards for new buildings and major renovations increased to: 70% in 2015, 80% in 2020, 90% in 2025, and then arbon-neutral in 2030 (operating with no fossil fuel GHG emitting energy). Targets can be achieved through implementation of innovative sustainable design strategies, generation of on-site renewable power, and/or through the purchase of (20% maximum) renewable energy.
