#Singapore gov will invest $100M towards tech that will increase the #energy efficiency of data centers:

In Singapore today, a number of companies are building and acquiring data centers to support their business activity. As a result, the Singapore government recently announced an investment of $100 million towards technologies that will increase the energy efficiency of data centers. Considering that this building type is one of the biggest consumers of energy on the planet, this is welcome news. Data centers often run 24 hours a day and require sizable systems to not only power the systems, but also to cool the structures. Those that are not optimized waste precious resources, increase the dependence on foreign energy sources and tax the country’s infrastructure. Hundreds of data centers are pursuing LEED every year.
