If you are looking for a house, and you want to go green, there are a few key points to keep in mind. These are true whether you are building a home or if you want to purchase one that is on the market. 1. Location is important. When you pull up to the potential house, there are a few things that you need to immediately look for. First, is the house facing the west? If so, it will not help you in your quest to go green. You will get a lot of direct sunlight, which will keep the house very hot in the summer. Also, ask the Realtor a few questions. Is the house in a flood, hurricane or earthquake zone? If so, purchasing it is not the most eco-friendly choice. Finally, look to see if the house is close to public transportation and if you can walk to shops like the grocery store.
