Sellen Sustainability announced the launch of the nation’s first green building safety program to proactively address potential incidents associated with new green building systems before accidents occur. As the demand for green building increases, the need for improved safety training is on the rise. “The safety industry has not yet had the opportunity to fully understand what is different about green building,” said Yancy Wright, director of Sellen Sustainability . “We see a great opportunity and a serious need to teach the green building workforce, particularly safety professionals, about the safety issues surrounding new and emerging green building systems to prevent future incidents from occurring.” This new Green Building Safety program was made possible through a Safety and Health Investment Projects grant from the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries. ...
