The #UAE is ready to mainstream nearly zero energy buildings, finds a new report from @EmiratesGBC

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is ready to transition from the position of an early adopter of nearly zero energy buildings (nZEBs) to mainstream rollout, finds Emirates Green Building Council in a new report, published during World Green Building Week. The report, Defining Nearly Zero Energy Buildings in the UAE – 2017 , sets out how the concept of nZEBs is strongly aligned with the UAE’s national vision, especially in driving innovation in renewable energy and energy efficiency. nZEBs are of particular significance to the country since buildings in the UAE have been found to consume up to 70 to 80 per cent of the total electricity generated. In Dubai, nearly a quarter of the existing building stock has been found to be energy-inefficient.
