UKGBC set to challenge the construction industry on how it is taking action to reduce embodied carbon in buildings

The conference, which has been designed in response to recommendations made following last year’s inaugural Embodied Carbon Week, will set out activity that leads to real change within the sector. The one day event will focus on the current state of play around embodied carbon, and the industry action that is needed to reduce embodied carbon and deliver on the Government’s Construction 2025 target of a 50 per cent reduction in GHG emissions. UK-GBC is in a unique position of being able to bring different sectors from across industry to examine how they can collectively reduce embodied carbon and cost, through innovation. It is hoped that each sector will agree activity it can do differently in order to deliver buildings that are more resource efficient and at a lower cost.
